  Yeah, I do think it could be suspicious, otherwise e-commerce store owners will purchase category wise keyword rich domains and redirect to primary site’ categories page.

  301 redirect is search engine friendly. and google will not penalized the for 301 redirect. It’s really helpful for the Many portal site and dynamic site.

  There are even so called SEO who really seeking their website home page more than 6 tries hard to achieve page rank for less important pages and than they do 301 redirect to the index page itself. I found one of my friend doing wrong at this and he has not gained a single % of value of redirected pages. SEO’ really not knowing what actually for the 301 redirection is. I agree on matt’ thoughts.

  I definitely agree with the first poster. Having multiple redirects to one domain indicates you are likely trying to game the search engines.

  Large companies need to do it. Even if it means redirecting 20 different domains – if I accidentaly misspell my bank’s addres I don’t want to stumble upon a phishing site.
